AI Search Visibility: GEO
Customers increasingly ask AI assistants: "which company would you recommend?". GEO (generative engine optimization) is the work of getting your company into those answers. We build the technical foundation, citable content and trust signals — using the methodology we first proved on InterLAB's own website.

What is GEO and why does a business need it?
GEO (generative engine optimization) is optimizing a company's presence in AI assistants' answers: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google's AI Overviews. When a user asks "who in Almaty does X", the assistant assembles its answer from the search index, business listings, directories and website content — GEO builds those sources so there is something concrete to find and cite about your company. InterLAB (Almaty) implements GEO with a methodology it first proved on itself: from structured data and AI-crawler access to citable content and a visibility log.
Who it's for
Local service businesses
Clinics, salons, studios, service companies: people ask AI "where to go and whom to contact" — the answers should include you, not just aggregators.
B2B companies
Vendor selection increasingly starts as a dialogue with an assistant: "compare", "recommend", "which companies in Kazakhstan". GEO builds the material the AI answers those questions with.
Those with SEO but no AI visibility
The site ranks, yet ChatGPT doesn't know the company or confuses it with namesakes. That's fixable: brand entity, citable facts, listings, directories.
New brands
Breaking into classic SEO takes a young company years. AI answers are still uncontested in most niches — an early entry is cheaper than a late one.
What GEO solves
Why doesn't ChatGPT mention my company?
Usually a combination: the site doesn't serve content to AI crawlers properly, the pages offer nothing to cite (no concrete prices, facts, answers), business listings are empty or inconsistent, and the brand isn't tied into a single entity. An audit shows which of these apply to you.
How is GEO different from SEO?
SEO fights for positions in a list of links; GEO — for being inside the assistant's answer itself. The foundation is shared (indexability, speed, structure), but beyond it the paths diverge: GEO depends on citable facts, answer-first content, listings with reviews and consistent company data across sources. Good news: GEO work strengthens classic SEO too.
Can you guarantee a spot in AI answers?
No — and be wary of anyone who promises one: assistant outputs are probabilistic and change with the phrasing. What can be guaranteed is methodical work on the factors and transparent measurement: control queries, a visibility log, mention dynamics. That's the honest frame we work in.
How do you measure results?
Before the start we record a baseline: a set of control questions to assistants and their current answers. Then — regular re-runs of the same set, the AI reports in Google's and Bing's webmaster tools, assistant-referred traffic in analytics and, most importantly, enquiries. The report shows dynamics, not a magic score.
What GEO includes
items
- AI visibility audit: control queries, baseline, competitors in the answers
- Technical foundation: indexability, speed, AI-crawler access, IndexNow

- Brand entity: consistent company data across sources, sameAs links
- Listings and directories: Google, 2GIS, Yandex, industry platforms
- Multilingual setup and hreflang — when targeting several markets
- A visibility log and regular control measurements
- Reporting: mention dynamics, sources, next steps
How GEO works
- 01
Audit and baseline
Control questions to assistants, a review of current answers and the competitors in them, a technical site audit. We record the starting point.
- 02
Technical foundation
Indexability, speed, structured data, AI-crawler access, sitemap and IndexNow. Nothing else works without the foundation.
- 03
Content and entity
Pages that answer buyers' real questions, public facts worth citing, consistent brand data.
- 04
External signals
Business listings, directories, (real) reviews, mentions. The material assistants assemble trust from.
- 05
Measure and iterate
Scheduled control runs, analysis of the dynamics, the next iteration. GEO is a process, not a one-off setup.

Tools and standards
We work from the official documentation of search and AI platforms, no grey tricks: Schema.org markup, the IndexNow protocol, Google and Bing webmaster tools with their AI reports, correct access for assistant crawlers. The methodology was proven on our own site, interlab.app.
- Schema.org
- IndexNow
- Search Console
- Bing Webmaster
- hreflang
- GA4 / Metrica
- OAI-SearchBot
Platforms and sources
Assistants assemble answers from many sources — we work with all the significant ones: business listings, directories, reviews, media. Kazakhstan has its own set of platforms, and we know it.
Google Business Profile, 2GIS, Yandex Business, Crunchbase, KZ industry directories, LinkedIn
FAQ
The format: a one-off audit with a plan at a fixed price, then monthly work whose scope depends on the site's state and the niche's competition. We estimate after the audit. If the site's foundation is solid, the budget goes into content and external signals rather than rebuilding.
No — and nobody honestly can: assistant answers are probabilistic, phrasing-dependent and shift with model updates. We guarantee methodical work on the factors, transparent measurement against control questions and an honest report on the dynamics — including what didn't work.
The technical foundation and listings produce the first shifts within 4–8 weeks after the changes are indexed; a stable presence in answers is a months-long effort. Niches where competitors haven't done GEO respond fastest — and in Kazakhstan that's still most of them.
With the website: assistants need a source they can cite. The right combination is usually concrete landing pages plus GEO on top. We build both parts, so nothing is lost between contractors.
No: the same work affects Perplexity, Google's AI Overviews, Copilot and voice assistants — their sources largely overlap. As a bonus, classic SEO gets stronger: the foundation is shared.
We walked this path on our own site: the technical base, structured data, citable content, listings, a visibility log — everything we offer clients was first implemented and measured on ourselves. We show the methodology at the brief.
